The initial phase of our tuition programme is Year 1. For all pupils, it is the beginning of a process of constructive learning that will be evaluated academically. For Year 1 pupils, We offer a very structured course in Math and English. We begin educating the children on the fundamentals of English grammar, comprehension, and vocabulary. In math, we begin preparing pupils for concepts linked to arithmetic and geometry.

The two main subjects at Key Stage 1 are English and Mathematics.

The English course for Key Stage 1 consists of: Phonetics, Understanding Texts, Phonemic Awareness, Spelling, Vocabulary, Sentence Structure, Writing Small Paragraphs and Comprehension.

The Mathematics course consists of: Knowing Numbers, Basic Mathematical Language, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division and Introductory Geometry.

  • Classroom size: A maximum of 5 children are in a class at any time, to ensure that each child is given a focused, tailored learning experience.
  • Assessments: We have progress tests every two months, from which we provide feedback to parents and tailor the continued learning of the children.
  • Course Content: All content at Talent Pool Academy is aligned to the National Curriculum, to help your child achieve the best results they can. We have our own textbooks made by expert teachers, which are regularly updated to be in line with the National Curriculum.Our lessons are for 1 hour for each subject every week.
  • Awards: Every two months we hold progress test, from which we provide feedback to parents and tailor the child’s continued learning. Children who perform well in these tests are awarded with certificates and trophies are given to those who performed exceptionally. This motivates children to either continue to work hard, or in the case of those who didn’t win; motivate them to work harder.
  • Mock Tests: Every two months we hold mock tests, from which we provide feedback to parents and tailor the continued learning of the child to strengthen their weak points.
